When I started my career
as an entrepreneur and speaker, I was clueless about how to stand in front of thousands of people and make them care about what I have to say. I felt like I was good at getting the words out but failed miserably at connecting with my audience.
I remember the first time
I was asked to speak in front of an audience. I was so afraid that I would forget my speech or say something stupid, that I relied almost exclusively on my notes. I didn’t look at anyone in the audience even once. If I did lift my head, my eyes went blurry and all I saw was a massive blob of people judging me. It was the worst experience of my life. I felt rejected and foolish. I decided I would never do that again. I wondered if I even had anything worth offering to the world.
Sometime later,
I was at a conference and saw the most dynamic, powerful, connected person on stage that I’d ever seen. I was mesmerized along with the thousand people that were there. When I heard her say, “You are supposed to change the world,” I knew she was talking to me. And even though I didn’t want to be a cliche, I ran to the back of the room and bought her course.
I learned three important things
